For Immediate Release
Contact:  Jeff Taillon, 803-546-3787,

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Henry McMaster, candidate for Lt. Governor, announced a plan for the Office on Aging. The office of the Lt. Governor currently submits a State Plan on Aging every four years. Current Lt. Governor Glenn McConnell submitted South Carolina’s plan for 2013 — 2017, which went into effect on October 1, 2012. In effort to comply with the law, maintain the significant improvements under current leadership, and provide continuity the current state plan will remain the blue print and baseline for managing the office.

Mr. McMaster has provided a list of additional advocacy goals to improve the lives of South Carolina’s seniors including; tax relief, investigating and prosecuting abuse, mobilizing non-profit resources, promoting physical fitness, senior center modernization, and retirement planning education.

“With the state of South Carolina facing down a Gray Tsunami having a leader who is prepared to take on the challenges facing out state’s seniors and vulnerable adults is critical,” said McMaster for Lt. Governor Campaign Manager Jeff Taillon. “Henry McMaster has the experience required to run the Office on Aging, the conviction to run it well, and the results as a federal and state prosecutor to prove it.”

The McMaster plan for the Office on Aging is available here.
