COLUMBIA, S.C. - Henry McMaster for Lieutenant Governor issued the following statement in reaction to the most recent Winthrop Poll, which shows nearly one in five South Carolinians has a family member suffering from Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia and more than one in four currently care or financially support a family member who is in poor or declining health due to age related physical or mental issues:
“This poll confirms that a 'Grey Tsunami' is bearing down on us. More and more of our seniors and their families are unable to meet these challenges alone and a costly and broken Medicaid system is not the answer,” said McMaster for Lt. Governor Campaign Manager Jeff Taillon. “Henry is the experienced and proven leader who can ensure from day one that our Office on Aging is the first line of defense for these families.”
